Genesis of Financing a Foreign Acquisition

Following the initial announcement in March 2023 regarding the acquisition of certain TotalEnergies assets in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg, our priority was first to secure the initial financing. Once this step was completed, we implemented the necessary risk hedging strategies and then finalized the process by structuring the long-term financing for the acquisition.

This conference, led by Mathieu Brunet and David Pellerin from Alimentation Couche-Tard, provided a detailed overview of the step-by-step process that secured and structured the financial mechanisms behind this major international transaction.

Mathieu Brunet currently holds the position of Vice President of Investor Relations and Treasury at Alimentation Couche-Tard, a global leader in the convenience industry, operating under the brands Couche-Tard, Circle K, and Ingo. Prior to assuming this role in early 2024, Mathieu served as Head of Global Treasury for three years. In his current capacity, he oversees the entire treasury function of the company and manages relationships with investors and external stakeholders.

David Pellerin is a treasury professional with over 18 years of experience in treasury and global financial markets. He was appointed Director of Treasury at Alimentation Couche-Tard in March 2024. David has extensive expertise in developing strategies, planning, and executing projects in several areas such as capital structure, global treasury, risk management, and working capital management. David has been a volunteer with Nature-Action Québec for many years and has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors since 2016, where he provides leadership, financial expertise, and risk management advice to this non-profit environmental consulting organization with over 200 employees.
